Liceo Ettore Majorana is a state liceo in Rho, north-west of Milan. It began in 1966 with a single class as a branch of the Milan liceo Vittorio Veneto, became independent in 1976 and moved into its own building on Via Ratti; three more local licei later grew out of it. According to the school, 731 students in 37 classes attended in 2024-2025. Tracks: liceo scientifico, liceo scientifico opzione scienze applicate, liceo scientifico Cambridge, liceo linguistico and a four-year linguistic liceo for interpreting and translation; from 2026-2027 a scientific liceo with extra mathematics is added. Lessons are taught in Italian. In the Cambridge section, opened in 2021-2022, English, mathematics and physics in grades 1-3 follow Cambridge syllabuses in English, together with native-speaker teachers, and students sit IGCSE exams. The school takes part in Erasmus+, is a European Parliament Ambassador School, prepares students for language certificates in four languages and since 2003 has been the reference school for hospital schooling.

About the fees The school is a state school and tuition is free. On enrolment in grade 1 for 2026-2027 families pay a voluntary contribution of 140 EUR; students in the Cambridge section pay an additional 250 EUR. Cambridge textbooks and IGCSE exam fees are paid separately.
Admissions Grade 1 enrolment follows the state online procedure in January; in summer it is completed at the office with a photo, tax code, lower secondary leaving certificate, competence certificate, report card, vaccination record, consent forms and a receipt for the voluntary contribution. Students admitted to the Cambridge section take an English orientation test in May, on a single date with no resit. According to the PTOF the school has a protocol for admitting foreign students with a plan for placing them in classes, and Italian courses for students recently arrived in Italy; through the Intercultura project the school hosts students from other countries for a period of study.

The IGCSE Mathematics exam is taken at the end of grade 2, Physics and English at the end of grade 3 or in grade 4. The Italian curriculum is not reduced.

Campus: One building on Via Ratti, built for the liceo in 1976 and later extended with a new wing. The ground floor has an atrium, an auditorium, a snack counter, a room for individual study before and after school, a conference room, a library, two gyms, a weights room and a sick bay. A separate floor holds the labs: a language lab, two computer labs, a multimedia room, a chemistry and physics lab and biology labs. The new wing has a room for the counselling service; there is a lift and a stair lift for students with disabilities and parking for bicycles and motorbikes.
