The only French school on Gran Canaria stands in Telde, on the Taliarte road, and takes children from two to eighteen years, from kindergarten to graduation. The school belongs to the Mission laïque française network and works by the programmes of the French ministry of education; the French programme is recognised by France up to the seconde class, and after that pupils go on to BachiBac - the Spanish bachillerato with a French section, which gives at once the Spanish leaving certificate and the French Baccalauréat; the school writes that it was the first on the island to introduce BachiBac, from the 2012-2013 school year. There are three languages: French is the language of instruction, compulsory Spanish subjects give automatic equivalence with Spanish schooling, English runs from the first years. Separately, by choice, pupils can in parallel obtain the American High School Diploma through the Dual Diploma programme, online and outside lessons. The school names more than 300 pupils, more than 20 nationalities and more than 50 years of work; by its account, everyone who sat the Baccalauréat passed it, and in the latest BachiBac graduation several papers received the top mark of 10. The school runs France Éducation International and Cambridge ESOL examinations. Through all the years run four "pathways": career guidance, arts and culture, health and citizenship. There is a canteen with its own kitchen, a media library and a school bus from Las Palmas.

About the fees The school publishes its fees for the 2026-2027 school year in a separate document on the "Tarifas" page. The enrolment fee for a new pupil is 690 euros, of which, on withdrawal within 30 days, the school keeps 350 euros; for a new pupil whose brother or sister has already studied at the school for at least a year, 275 euros; for pupils from fully managed schools of the MLF network enrolment is free. The annual renewal fee is 275 euros. The annual tuition by stage the school gives in the same document.
Admissions Admission goes through an application on the site: the family fills in the form, names the stage from Infantil to BachiBac and the language in which to contact it - Spanish, French or English - and the school gets in touch itself to explain free places and enrolment. Enrolment is final after payment of the fee and submission of the full set of documents. The school writes that its community is more than 20 nationalities. For entry to BachiBac a Spanish ESO certificate and a basis in French are needed: schooling in a French-speaking school or at least level A2, reaching B1 in the first year.
Stages and year groups Grades PS (2 years) - Terminale / 2º Bachillerato. Four stages: kindergarten from 2 to 6 years (PS, MS, GS), primary school from 6 to 11 years (CP - CM2), middle school from 11 to 15 years (6ème - 3ème) with the French Diplôme National du Brevet examination at the end, and upper school from 16 to 18 years. The school matches the classes with Spanish ones: 6ème counts as 6º Primaria, 2nde as 4º ESO. The French programme is recognised by France up to the seconde class; in the two upper classes pupils study in BachiBac, 1º and 2º Bachillerato, where most subjects are taught in French, including French language and literature and the history of Spain and France, and sit an external examination for both certificates. Lessons begin at 8:15 or 8:30 depending on the stage and run until 16:00, on Wednesday shorter - until 12:30 or until 15:00.

What stands behind each entry

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

Mission laïque françaiseschool network

Mission laïque française (MLF) is a French non-profit association founded in 1902; its school network is called Réseau mlfmonde. The network gives different figures on its own pages - 108 schools in 38 countries on some, 107 schools in 37 countries on another, with more than 61,000 students in both cases - and we quote both. In Spain the network lists 10 lycées, in Alicante, Murcia, Palma, Reus, Seville, Telde (Gran Canaria), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valladolid, Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid) and Zaragoza. In a notice dated 21 September 2026, MLF writes that since 1 September 2026 the day-to-day management of its Spanish schools has been entrusted to the association AFLEC-GEE under a management mandate, refers to 9 schools, and says the legal transfer of each will be completed by 31 July 2028 at the latest. The notice does not say which of the ten schools is not among the nine. The network's site is mlfmonde.org.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
