Mater Salvatoris is a private Catholic girls' school in Aravaca, in north-west Madrid; it is run by the sisters of the Compañía del Salvador. The school was founded by Madre María Félix in 1954, moved to Aravaca in 1965, and in 1996 the Colegio Mayor Mater Salvatoris university residence opened beside it. The stages run all the way through: Infantil, Primaria, ESO and Bachillerato, and since 2017 the school has also run the IB Diploma Programme for girls aged 16-18. Lessons are taught in Spanish, but English takes a large place: it is taught every day at every stage, natural science in grades 1-3 of primary school is in English, Drama and Culture on the Stage are taught entirely in English, and pupils prepare for Cambridge examinations from KET in grade 6 to CPE in the 2nd year of the Bachillerato; French starts in ESO in small groups and leads to DELF up to level B2. The school is a Cambridge examination centre. Its alumnae, it says, study at Georgetown, Columbia, LSE, King's College London and other British and American universities. Sport is strong: a covered complex of 2300 square metres, three gymnasiums, and teams in basketball, volleyball, athletics, gymnastics, skating and field hockey in municipal and Catholic school leagues. In summer the school runs a day camp for the youngest, a residential camp in English, mountain trips and a sports campus, and in June it sends girls in grades 5-6 to Ireland for a month, to host families and a local Catholic school. The main thing for a parent: this is a girls' school, and there are almost no new places for the 2027-2028 school year - admission is open only to the first year of Infantil.

Admissions The school admits girls only and organises admission by year of birth. For the 2027-2028 school year new families could submit a form for a place in the first year of Infantil for girls born in 2024 from 1 to 30 September 2026 by e-mail to admisiones@matersalvatoris.org; the selection itself runs from October to December 2026. There will be no new places in the second year of Infantil (born in 2022) or the third (born in 2021), and admission to Primaria and ESO does not open at all for that year. The school says nothing about foreign pupils, documents or tests.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.
Register to check for yourself, and the full guide →National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

The school has six summer programmes, combining English, sport, creative work and education in values. Day Camp runs at the school itself for children from the first year of Infantil to grade 3. Mater Camp is a residential camp in English in July, in the countryside, for grades 3-5. Montañeras are mountain trips at three levels: for grade 6 and the 1st year of ESO, for the 2nd-3rd years of ESO and for the 4th year of ESO and the Bachillerato. Campus Multideporte is sports training in athletics, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, field hockey, skating, volleyball and football. Misión de Verano is a summer mission for the 4th year of ESO, the Bachillerato and alumnae. Separately, in June girls in grades 5-6 spend a month with Irish families in Tullamore and Buncrana and attend a local Catholic school. The school gives no dates or prices on its pages; they are in a separate document.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
