A Catholic school under agreement with the state (concertada) in Los Realejos in the north of Tenerife, from infant education to the baccalaureate, the national one and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. It belongs to the Pureza de María congregation, founded by Alberta Giménez in Palma de Mallorca in 1874. On Tenerife the school opened in 1921 in Puerto de la Cruz, and in 1975 it moved to its present building on the slope of the volcanic cone of Montaña de los Frailes, designed by the architect Francisco Coello de Portugal; in 2021-2022 the school marked its centenary on the island. It builds its project on four pillars: Christian education, educational innovation, internationalisation and technology. Lessons are in Spanish, and there is more English than the curriculum requires: from infant education with native teachers, in primary music, creative movement, art and project lessons are in English, in ESO history and geography, economics, technology, music and physical education. The school belongs to the BEDA network of bilingual schools. A second foreign language, French or German, is chosen from the fifth grade, and the school calls itself the only one in the north of the island with such a choice. It is a Cambridge English (ESOL) exam centre, prepares for DELF and Goethe-Institut exams, takes part in Erasmus+ and eTwinning, and runs exchanges with Ireland, France and Germany; from ESO pupils can start the dual baccalaureate with an American High School diploma. The school was the first on Tenerife to offer the IB Diploma Programme: two years for pupils aged 16-18, with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, part of the subjects taught in English. From the fifth grade every pupil and teacher has a Chromebook, and the school is recognised as a Google for Education Reference School. In primary and ESO there is swimming once a week in the school's own indoor pool. Its own kitchen belongs to the network of ecological school canteens of the Canary Islands. The director is Hna. Carolina Somarriba Munguia. The school's website does not respond at present; the information follows its last saved version.

Admissions A place in infant education, primary and ESO is applied for through the electronic office of the Canary Islands education authority, on the common calendar; the family saves the completed application as a PDF and sends it to the school, and the school office helps with the application if needed. On its admissions page the school publishes a map of its catchment area. Families are invited to open days and to a personal tour by appointment. Nothing is said separately about foreigners.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

The school calls itself a space of care: it has an ethical code, a safe environment manual and a reporting channel, and training for all adults at the school. A nurse works every day and looks after children with diabetes, allergies and special diets. Conflicts are handled through mediation: in every ESO class pupils elect two helper mediators, who are trained at the start of the year; in infant education there is an "ear and mouth corner". For 3rd and 4th year ESO there are sessions on preventing bullying. At lunchtime the playgrounds are supervised by monitors.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
