The Dr. Petar Beron Bulgarian Secondary School in Prague is a state school of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science abroad, a free day school for grades 1 to 12 in Dejvice. The school dates its history to 1948: in October 1948 the Bulgarian Ministry of Public Education decided to open a state school in Prague, classes began on 2 January 1949, and it was first a primary school with a boarding section. In 1991 the school was closed when state funding stopped and reopened the same year; in 1996 it became a general secondary school and took the name of Petar Beron, and in 2003 it moved to its present building on Rychtářská street. Teaching follows the curricula and programmes of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education in Bulgarian; grades 11-12 follow a humanities profile. English and Czech are taught as subjects from grade 2. The school issues Bulgarian education documents: certificates for completed stages and, after grade 12, the state matriculation exams (matura) and the diploma za sredno obrazovanie. There are full-time and independent (exam-based) study forms. The school says 130 children study there (figure given for its 75th anniversary in 2023).

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
