Centre Cultural Pineda is a private Christian school in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat near Barcelona, on Carrer dels Joncs, next to the City of Justice. It was founded by families, and the school describes itself as having more than 50 years of experience; it is linked to Opus Dei, and chaplains of the prelature provide pastoral care for anyone who wishes. Pineda is part of a common project of four centres: the Avantis kindergarten (ages 0-6), the Pineda and Xaloc schools with primary, secondary and baccalaureate, and the Xaloc FP vocational programmes; Pineda refers to its pupils in the feminine, as girls. Of the IB programmes the school names the Primary Years Programme (PEP), which begins at Avantis; for the Middle Years Programme (PAI) it is a candidate school and plans to apply for authorisation in May 2027. The school's site and documents are in Catalan with a Spanish version, and in primary it sets the goal of fluent communication in Catalan, Spanish and English, so Catalan and Spanish are given as the languages of instruction. English gets 6-8 hours a week, with a native assistant and five-week stays in Ireland from year 5 of primary to year 1 of ESO; German can be studied from year 6, and the American dual diploma from year 3 of ESO. Mobile phones and electronic devices are banned on the premises, except iPads in lessons. In the 2026 university entrance exams everyone passed, with an average admission score of 7.3. In summer the school runs an English camp for children from I5 to year 3 of ESO.

About the fees The school does not publish tuition fees on its site: the prices are given by an admissions staff member on a tour. The site lists only the prices of services, extended care, the bus and extracurricular activities, and discounts for families with three or more children: 20, 25 or 30 per cent.
Admissions Getting to know the school happens through open days in small groups shared by Avantis, Pineda and Xaloc (from October to July), or a private tour with an admissions staff member who explains the admission procedure, prices, timetable and calendar. The school publishes no steps, documents, deadlines or entrance tests on its site. The school says nothing about foreign pupils or conditions for them.
Stages and year groups Grades year 1 of primary - year 2 of baccalaureate (kindergarten at Avantis). Pineda runs primary school, secondary (ESO) and the baccalaureate; kindergarten for the common project is provided by a separate centre, Avantis, next to Pineda and Xaloc: a private nursery for ages 0-3 and a state-funded kindergarten for ages 3-6, where the IB Primary Years Programme begins, continued in Pineda's primary school. In secondary Pineda is introducing the IB Middle Years Programme: PAI 2 and PAI 3 from January 2026, PAI 4 and PAI 5 from September 2026, and the personal project in the 2027/28 school year. Lessons in primary run from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:45 to 16:45, in years 1-3 of ESO from 9:00 to 13:30 and from 15:00 to 17:00, and in the baccalaureate from 8:00 to 14:30. The vocational programmes are run by Xaloc FP, not by Pineda.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Exams and destinations from the school's official website

Exam results In the 2026 Catalan university entrance exams (PAU) everyone passed, with an average admission score of 7.3, an average school record of 7.9 and an average of 7.5 in physics; the school says it is above the Catalan average in all science subjects, and after the 2025 PAU it was among the top 5 per cent of schools in Catalonia. Everyone who sat the Cambridge English exams passed. In the Cangur mathematics competition 12 pupils were in the top 6 per cent in Catalonia, and in the Catalan basic competence tests in year 6 pupils score above average.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
