International College Spain is a private school in La Moraleja, a quiet leafy suburb in the municipality of Alcobendas, ten minutes from the centre of Madrid. It belongs to the Nord Anglia Education group and calls itself the most international school in Madrid: more than seventy nationalities. It teaches the IB programmes and runs all three in sequence - PYP, MYP and the Diploma - wholly in English, and has done so, by its own account, for more than forty-five years. It gives two figures for its 2026 Diploma cohort: a top score of 44 and ten per cent of leavers at forty points or above. From the group it gets collaborations with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Juilliard School and UNICEF, and those are covered by the fee. The campus is a mixture: historic buildings and green lawns alongside modern spaces for STEAM, the arts and sport - five science laboratories, a design and technology suite, a primary STEAM Maker Space, separate primary and secondary libraries, an auditorium, a recording studio, a running track, football pitches, courts and gyms. The school runs more than fifty extra-curricular activities, and the programme is led by a professional flamenco dancer. Admission is open all year and a new pupil may start at any time; after an application the school invites the child to an age-appropriate assessment in English and maths. The school publishes its fees per term in a separate table for 2026-2027: from 4216 euros in the kindergarten to 8870 euros in the last two grades.

About the fees The school publishes its fees per term, in a separate table for 2026-2027, and they are paid three times a year: by 1 July, by 1 December and by 1 March. Per term: kindergarten for three- and four-year-olds - 4216 euros, for five-year-olds - 4500, Grades 1-2 - 5850, Grades 3-5 - 6480, Grades 6-8 - 7752, Grades 9-10 - 8486, Grades 11-12 - 8870. The yearly range in this card is three terms: from 12648 to 26610 euros. The fee, the school says, covers tuition and much beyond the classroom, including the group's collaborations with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Juilliard School and UNICEF. Discounts: a family with three or more children at the school gets 5 per cent off for the third younger child and a further 10 per cent for each successive one; paying the whole academic year before 1 June earns 3 per cent. Admission charges come on top of the fee.
Admissions The school takes children from three to eighteen and says on its admissions page that its pupils come from more than seventy countries; lessons are in English, and for pupils whose first language is not English it offers English as an Additional Language support - one to one, in groups or within lessons, at an extra charge. Admission is open all year round and a new pupil may start at any point in the school year. The process has four steps: an enquiry by form, email or phone, answered by the admissions office within one working day; a campus visit, or a video meeting if coming to Madrid is not possible; an application with documents and payment of the application fee; then an age-appropriate assessment in English and maths and possibly an interview with the Principal. Documents: the child's birth certificate and passport, both parents' passports, school reports for the last two years and a confidential recommendation from the current or most recent school.
Stages and year groups Grades early years from age 3 - the Diploma Programme, to age 18. The stages run right through on the IB framework: early years from the age of three, primary on the PYP, secondary on the MYP and the Diploma Programme in the final two years. All three IB programmes are taught in English.

What stands behind each entry

NEASCNew England Association of Schools and Colleges

An American accreditation working since 1885. For international schools it uses an approach where the visitors look first at live lessons rather than at folders of paperwork: the team works in the school for about a week. It is the only one here whose public directory honestly separates accredited schools from candidates.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

CISCouncil of International Schools

It accredits international schools and is a paying association at the same time. It examines governance and ownership, the curriculum, teaching, student wellbeing, staff and premises; a team of volunteers from other CIS accredited schools visits the school. Membership and accreditation are different things here, and schools confuse them more often than anything else.

What the badge means for this school. The school belongs to this organisation but has not been through its accreditation. The difference matters: membership is usually paid for and has no external inspection behind it. There is no entry in the organisation's open directory: the status comes from the school's own words.

Nord Anglia Educationschool network

A group of international schools of the full cycle, day and boarding. The numbers on its site diverge: the "About Nord Anglia" page speaks of 89 schools in 37 countries, the "Our schools" and "Our global network" pages - of 90, the "All schools" page - of "90+"; pupils are more than 100,000 everywhere. Whether the group owns the schools, manages them under contract or gives its methodology under licence is not said on its pages. The year of foundation and the country of registration are not named there.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

The school gives no number of teachers and no pupil-teacher ratio. Of its staff it says that teachers are carefully chosen, all hold globally recognised qualifications and experience of teaching their subject and age group in IB programmes, and all are certified and trained by the International Baccalaureate. Every teacher has a personal development plan; the group gives them courses on its Nord Anglia University platform and collaborations with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and The Juilliard School. The school calls its classes small without giving figures. The teaching page presents ten members of the leadership team.

Safety and wellbeing from the school's official website

The school says nothing on its website about security, medical care or pupil support.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
