Lycée Français International de Reus Marguerite Yourcenar is a private secular French school on the road from Reus to Tarragona, in a quiet part of the town, with spacious outdoor areas. It began in 1988 as École Bon Soleil and now belongs to the Mission laïque française network and to AEFE, the system of French schools abroad, which approves all its stages. Children are taken from 3 years and led to the French baccalauréat: kindergarten, primary school, collège with the brevet diploma and lycée, where there is a European section with part of the subjects in English. The school itself calls itself a one-form-entry school, family-like, with personal attention to every pupil. The language of instruction is French, and from an early age English, Catalan and Spanish are added to it, hence the motto "four cultures, four languages, one future"; in French, English and Spanish pupils sit the DELF, the Cambridge PET, First and Advanced examinations and the DELE. Pupils and families here are of different nationalities. The school has declared itself a mobile-phone-free zone, in classrooms and at break, and received an award from the Jara Barceló foundation for digital awareness. In 2025 all 26 leavers passed the baccalauréat, 80 per cent with a bien or très bien distinction. The school does not publish its tuition fees on the site.

Admissions The school takes children from 3 years, and they do not need to know French: in its words, most kindergarten children speak French well by the first year of primary school, and parents who do not speak French are helped by digital platforms for revision at home. Its pupils and families are of different nationalities, and the school explains its membership of the network of French schools abroad as a convenience for families who move from country to country. For children of French citizens registered with the consulate general in Barcelona there are partial and full scholarships according to family income; applications are made in January and February, and by newly arrived pupils in August and September. The school publishes no enrolment procedure or list of documents: it invites families to book a visit or an open day through the form on the site, by telephone or by e-mail.
Stages and year groups Grades maternelle (3-5 years) - terminale. The stages run without a break: kindergarten for children of 3, 4 and 5 years, primary school from year 1 to year 5, collège from 6ème to 3ème with the brevet diploma at the end, and lycée - seconde, première and terminale with the French baccalauréat; the lycée has a European section where part of the programme is taught in English. The French ministry's approval, according to the AEFE register, covers all 15 stages. The school day in kindergarten and primary runs from 9:00 to 12:10 and from 14:20 to 16:20, in the collège from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:30 to 16:20, for some lycée pupils until 17:15. The school has one form of entry: one class per year.

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad
It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.
Mission laïque françaiseschool network
Mission laïque française (MLF) is a French non-profit association founded in 1902; its school network is called Réseau mlfmonde. The network gives different figures on its own pages - 108 schools in 38 countries on some, 107 schools in 37 countries on another, with more than 61,000 students in both cases - and we quote both. In Spain the network lists 10 lycées, in Alicante, Murcia, Palma, Reus, Seville, Telde (Gran Canaria), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valladolid, Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid) and Zaragoza. In a notice dated 21 September 2026, MLF writes that since 1 September 2026 the day-to-day management of its Spanish schools has been entrusted to the association AFLEC-GEE under a management mandate, refers to 9 schools, and says the legal transfer of each will be completed by 31 July 2028 at the latest. The notice does not say which of the ten schools is not among the nine. The network's site is mlfmonde.org.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
