Lycée Français International de Tenerife Jules Verne is a private French school in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for children aged three to eighteen, from the first year of nursery to the second year of the bachillerato. Teaching follows the French curriculum in French, with Spanish and English from age three: the school motto is "3 years - 3 languages". The school is recognised by the education ministries of France and Spain, and students receive qualifications of both systems: the Brevet and the Baccalauréat, and the Spanish ESO and bachillerato certificates. At the final stage it runs BachiBac, the dual French-Spanish diploma; its subjects taught in French are taught by civil servants of the French ministry of education. Nine children out of ten, according to the school, arrive without French, and by twelve all are above the French national average; 85 per cent pass Cambridge C1 and 95 per cent DALF C1, and these certificates are included in the fee. The school is secular, without religious teaching and without a uniform; it is open from 7:30 to 17:00 at no extra cost. Fees for 2026-2027 range from 5880 to 6950 euros by stage. The French state anti-bullying programme pHARe is in place, and in secondary school there are student mediators.

About the fees The school publishes its fees for the 2026-2027 school year itself, as a file on its fees page: nursery 5880 euros, the first five years of primary 6040, from the sixth year of primary to the third year of ESO 6880, from the fourth year of ESO to the second year of bachillerato 6950 euros. The fee includes early care from 7:30, supervision after lessons until 17:00, primary school supplies (except textbooks), day trips and outings without an overnight stay, accident insurance and DELF, DALF, Cambridge and DELE certificates.
Admissions Enrolment is open for the current and the next year: the family calls or fills in a form, and the school arranges a personal visit between 9:00 and 17:00, led by the primary school director; after the visit the family is given the enrolment documents. Young children do not need French: nine families out of ten are not French-speaking, and teaching is organised so that a child without French progresses at a normal pace, and there are French classes for parents at the school. The school belongs to the Mission laïque française, which, according to the school, welcomes children of all nationalities, cultures and faiths. BachiBac takes students from this or another French school, as well as those with French at B1 level, high achievement and good reports.
Stages and year groups Grades 1st year of nursery (age 3) - 2nd year of bachillerato (age 18). Nursery from age three, primary school, collège from 6ème (the Spanish sixth year of primary) to seconde (the fourth year of ESO) and BachiBac in 1ère and Terminale, that is the first and second years of bachillerato, in two branches and four options. In the third year of collège students sit the French Brevet exam. Classes run from the first week of September to 30 June, 177 school days: on average seven weeks of study and one or two weeks of rest. The school calls itself a medium-sized school where most students complete the whole path.

What stands behind each entry

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

French programme

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.

Mission laïque françaiseschool network

Mission laïque française (MLF) is a French non-profit association founded in 1902; its school network is called Réseau mlfmonde. The network gives different figures on its own pages - 108 schools in 38 countries on some, 107 schools in 37 countries on another, with more than 61,000 students in both cases - and we quote both. In Spain the network lists 10 lycées, in Alicante, Murcia, Palma, Reus, Seville, Telde (Gran Canaria), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valladolid, Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid) and Zaragoza. In a notice dated 21 September 2026, MLF writes that since 1 September 2026 the day-to-day management of its Spanish schools has been entrusted to the association AFLEC-GEE under a management mandate, refers to 9 schools, and says the legal transfer of each will be completed by 31 July 2028 at the latest. The notice does not say which of the ten schools is not among the nine. The network's site is mlfmonde.org.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
