The Lycée Français International Molière is a French school outside Madrid, in Villanueva de la Cañada, and it is one of the old ones: founded in 1973, it joined the Mission laïque française network in 1986 and moved to its present site in 1993. The school calls itself trilingual - French, Spanish and English - with German on top of those; the network that runs it speaks of seven hundred pupils. Its age range is wider than that of the other French lycées in Spain: the crèche takes babies from four months, the kindergarten from three, the primary school from six, the secondary from eleven, and the school carries pupils on to eighteen. A leaver gets a double document - the French baccalauréat and access to the Spanish selectividad - and in languages the school takes pupils to official certificates in all three. The network calls the last cohort's result a clean sweep: 100 per cent passed the baccalauréat in 2025 and 86 per cent with distinction. Of its own arrangements the school singles out emotional education, a digital project, an eco-school certificate, a school web radio and the newspaper La Gazette du Molière, as well as international exchanges. Getting to school is possible by school bus: three lines collect children from Madrid, Pozuelo, Majadahonda, Las Rozas, Boadilla del Monte, Torrelodones, Villafranca del Castillo and Brunete, and parents are given an app that shows their child's bus on the road. The school publishes its fees itself, in euros: for the 2026-2027 school year from 6760 euros a year in kindergarten to 7560 in the lycée, plus a one-off fee on first admission of 500 to 1290 euros and an annual re-registration fee of 170 euros.

About the fees The school publishes its fees itself, in the files "Tarifs 2026-2027" and "Règlement financier 2026-2027", in euros a year. Tuition for 2026-2027: kindergarten 6760, primary school 6960, collège 7340, lycée 7560 euros. Payment can be made for the whole year at once, with a 3 per cent discount for payment in September, or in ten instalments. Discounts for children from one family: 10 per cent for the second child, 15 per cent for each with three children and 20 per cent for each with four; families living in Villanueva de la Cañada get 15 per cent, which does not combine with the sibling discount. Children of French nationality registered with the French consulate in Madrid or Barcelona may apply to the consulate for a scholarship in January.
Admissions The school does not set admission out step by step: its admissions page carries a separate admissions telephone line and an enquiry form into which a pupil's details are entered. It names no entrance test, no language requirement and no number of places. It does explain scholarships separately: children of French nationality may put together a bourse application and lodge it with the consulate in January of the year the child starts in September, and for details the school sends families to the cultural service of the French consulate. Fees in the financial regulations are the same for all pupils; the school does not name citizenship or a residence permit as a condition of admission.
Stages and year groups Grades crèche from 4 months - Terminale, to age 18. The stages run straight through: crèche from 4 months to 3 years, kindergarten from 3 to 6, primary school from 6 to 11, secondary from 11 to 17 and the leaving year beyond. On the French grid all fifteen levels from petite section to terminale are homologated; the crèche group stands outside homologation, because the French grid does not begin with it.

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.
Mission laïque françaiseschool network
Mission laïque française (MLF) is a French non-profit association founded in 1902; its school network is called Réseau mlfmonde. The network gives different figures on its own pages - 108 schools in 38 countries on some, 107 schools in 37 countries on another, with more than 61,000 students in both cases - and we quote both. In Spain the network lists 10 lycées, in Alicante, Murcia, Palma, Reus, Seville, Telde (Gran Canaria), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valladolid, Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid) and Zaragoza. In a notice dated 21 September 2026, MLF writes that since 1 September 2026 the day-to-day management of its Spanish schools has been entrusted to the association AFLEC-GEE under a management mandate, refers to 9 schools, and says the legal transfer of each will be completed by 31 July 2028 at the latest. The notice does not say which of the ten schools is not among the nine. The network's site is mlfmonde.org.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Catering is run by the contractor Colevisa: menus are composed on site from fresh and at least weekly organic produce, with one vegetarian day a week and separate days of national cuisines, and the menu is published monthly. The school bus runs on three lines - Madrid, Pozuelo, Majadahonda, Las Rozas, Boadilla del Monte, Torrelodones, Villafranca del Castillo and Brunete - with routes reviewed every year against what families need, and parents have an app that shows their child's bus on the road; the carrier is Autocares Revelles. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
