Colegio Altaduna is a school of the Attendis education group in Roquetas de Mar in the province of Almería. The group is organised uniformly, and the school inherits its general rules in full: teaching is bilingual, in English and Spanish, and runs that way from age zero to the baccalaureate; the level of English is certified by Cambridge ESOL examinations, and the goal the group sets for everyone is the Certificate in Advanced English, that is level C1 on the Common European Framework; on top of that a third European language - German, French or Portuguese - may be taken from primary school onwards. The school is Christian but open to pupils of any belief, and says so plainly. Its personal side is built on a formation plan in virtues and competences and on monthly conversations between pupil and tutor - the group calls this preceptuación - and on an individual academic and personal development plan for each pupil. The group rests its international provision on the IB and calls itself the education group with the greatest number of authorised IB programmes in Spain: thirty-one authorised programmes and thirteen in the application process, the Primary Years Programme for children from three to twelve and the Diploma Programme from sixteen to nineteen. The main thing a parent needs to know: the site does not say which IB programmes are authorised at this particular school - all the figures are given for the group as a whole - and the group publishes no fees. The school's own news shows that it works in a pair with Colegio Saladares of the same group: one item reports that Altaduna and Saladares awarded 277 language diplomas and strengthened their international line.

Admissions The school publishes its admission procedure as a separate document, the admissions policy of Colegio Altaduna. The school writes that it takes children from 0 to 18 regardless of origin, nationality or disability, and that the presence of pupils of different nationalities enriches learning. The steps: an application, a meeting of the parents with the governing committee, a look at the classrooms and facilities, an interview of the child with the deputy head, signing of the letter of acceptance and submission of documents - a copy of the family book, a medical certificate, a copy of the identity card, the health card number, two photographs and, for the school stages, the previous year's report. From primary school onwards the pupil sits a diagnostic placement test, and the school reports the result within a week. Priority goes to children whose brothers or sisters already attend the school and to children of Attendis alumni. The school takes foreigners: if a child has language difficulties in following their class, it considers a language immersion plan. Maximum class sizes: 25 pupils in PYP classes (preschool and primary) and 30 in MYP and Diploma Programme classes.
Stages and year groups The group's stages run from age zero to the baccalaureate, and bilingual teaching in English and Spanish is claimed across that whole span. A third European language - German, French or Portuguese - is taken optionally from primary school onwards. The school's own page gives no age boundaries by stage and no grade grid.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible.

Attendisschool network

Attendis is a private school group in southern Spain founded in 1972. On its site the group lists 20 schools and 13 Attendis Preschool nurseries in Andalusia and Extremadura: two schools each in Algeciras, Almería, Badajoz, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga, Marbella, Seville and the El Puerto de Santa María and Jerez area. According to the group, all of its schools were started by parents inspired by the teachings of Saint Josemaría on education and the family. Since the early years the schools have been run by the public limited company Centros Familiares de Enseñanza, registered in the Seville Commercial Register. The group's site is attendis.com.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Exams and destinations from the school's official website

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Facilities

The school does not describe its premises on its website.

The school does not publish the number of its teachers: on its page it stands as a counter filled in by a script. It writes that it has teachers certified for IB programmes and that native English-speaking assistants run conversation practice in small groups. Maximum class sizes under the admissions policy are 25 pupils in PYP classes and 30 in MYP and Diploma Programme classes.

Safety and wellbeing from the school's official website

The school says nothing on its website about security, medical care or pupil support.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
