Montessori Nova School is a Montessori school in Los Hueros near Madrid, organised as an educational cooperative jointly owned by families and guides. In 2025 the Montessori project in which these families' children were growing up was put at risk by outside management, and the families together with the guides decided to keep it going and run it themselves: in twelve weeks they rebuilt the premises, the environments and the structure and gave the project a new name. The school calls itself the first integral educational cooperative in Madrid created jointly by families and guides, and says plainly that families here are not clients. It currently takes children from four months to twelve years in four environments - Nido, Comunidad Infantil, Casa de Niños and Taller - and announces an environment for adolescents aged 12-16 as being prepared. Groups are small: five babies in Nido, nine in Comunidad Infantil, twelve in Casa de Niños, fifteen in each of the two Taller groups. The project is bilingual, with Spanish and English part of the ordinary day; in Taller English is taught by a separate teacher. The school does not give marks. The day runs from 9:00 to 16:00, with morning and afternoon care from 8:00 and until 17:00, its own kitchen with fresh produce, emotional education sessions, a summer programme open to outside families too, and a free school for parents. The school does not publish its fees.

Admissions Admission has four steps: a short application through the form on the website, a visit to the school with a conversation with the director and the guide of the environment the child will join, a meeting with the admissions committee, and a joint assessment by the teaching and admissions teams, after which the family is told the decision. The school describes the conversations as a check on whether the family's expectations match the project: the questionnaire asks whether the family knows Montessori, what matters most to it in the child's education and why it came here. The admission description includes no tests and no language requirements. Children are taken from four months; the school offers an open day as the first step.
Stages and year groups Grades Nido from 4 months - Taller to age 12 (a 12-16 stage is announced). Four environments by age: Nido from four to eighteen months, up to five children; Comunidad Infantil from 18 to 36 months, up to nine; Casa de Niños from three to six years, up to twelve, in Spanish and English; Taller from six to twelve years in two groups, ages 6-9 and 9-12, with fifteen pupils each and weekly themed outings. The school announces the Adolescencia environment for ages 12-16 as being prepared, with an extension of its premises. The school day runs from 9:00 to 16:00, with care from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 16:00 to 17:00.

What stands behind each entry

MSAMiddle States Association of Colleges and Schools

One of the oldest American accreditations, working since 1887 in more than a hundred countries and linked to the Office of Overseas Schools of the US State Department. It judges the school as an institution across twelve areas, including finances, governance, premises and student support.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

Montessori

The pedagogy of Maria Montessori: a child chooses the activity, works at their own pace with special materials, and mixed-age groups are arranged so that older children teach the younger ones. It is used most often in the nursery and primary stages.

What this means for this school. The name Montessori belongs to nobody: any school may call itself a Montessori school, and there is no single body that checks this. There are associations that train teachers and recognise schools, but membership of them is voluntary, and our entry means exactly that the school describes itself this way. This pedagogy has no leaving certificate, so what to look at is what the school finishes with.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
