Vilnius Balsiai progymnasium is a municipal school for grades 1 to 8, established by a decision of the Vilnius city council on 22 December 2010 as a basic school (pagrindinė mokykla) and reorganised into a progymnasium in 2015. Its founder is the Vilnius City Municipality. The school occupies two buildings: a main building from 2011 of over 11000 sq. m with a three-storey library and reading room, a multipurpose assembly hall and bicycle parking, and a separate primary-school building from 2020 of 4905 sq. m, made up of two blocks linked by a glass gallery, with colour-coded play areas in the corridors. By the school's own description, the main building holds more than 800 students and the primary school more than 600, over 1400 places in total. Instruction is in Lithuanian, with English taught as a foreign language. In 2024 the school was awarded Cambridge School certification, and from September of that year it has run Cambridge programmes in mathematics, science and English at primary and lower-secondary level. More than 60 after-school clubs run outside lessons, with about 70 percent of students taking part.

Admissions The school is municipal and free of charge, admitting children into grades 1 through 8. Applications are submitted through the Vilnius Municipality's online admission system, decisions are made by the school's own admission commission, and lists of invited students are published on the site before the school year starts. The site does not separately state a Lithuanian-language requirement for admission, since instruction is in Lithuanian from the outset as the only language of teaching. There is no document on the pages we read about a residential-district priority: the school keeps detailed admission criteria in documents that the 'Priėmimas' page only links to, without restating them as text.

There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level.
